“For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.”  -Vincent van Gogh, 1853-1890

This is a small painting I did one Sunday afternoon back in 2007. It’s been sitting around my studio for almost two years now, getting shuffled about every time I finish a new piece. Every now and then I would see it peering out behind a larger piece as if it were saying, “hey, don’t forget to post me”. I remember that cold afternoon I painted it, vividly. It’s funny, whenever I create a new piece, I can remember that time when I see that piece again. The art process has always acted as my visual journal. I can look at a piece from years ago and it will stimulate memories of that time frame. I can remember what my kids were doing, what music was popular, etc. That Sunday, I sat this olive on my table and put a slanted light on it, then painted it. It was a fun couple of hours. Simple subject, simple design, simple execution.  Enjoy!

Hi, Don, I’ve been AWO going back and forth last couple weeks assisting family member with move back to GA. Love what you’ve been up to old and new. Hope all is well.
